Organisation

Mandated by the European Commission to support the EU Research and Innovation policy, the European Research Executive Agency (REA), funds high-quality research and innovation projects that generate knowledge for the benefit of society. The REA also manages promotion measures concerning agricultural products.
Accordingly, the REA's responsibilities are to:

•Manage research projects supported under Horizon Europe, the world's largest framework programme for research and innovation to date, running from 2021 to 2027.
•Manage research projects supported under Horizon 2020, the previous framework programme for research and innovation (2014-2020).
•Implement the European Union programmes Promotion of agricultural products and Research Fund for Coal and Steel, as well as ongoing projects funded under the EU's 2014-2020 budget.
•Assist funding and tender applicants, beneficiaries and independent experts.
•Manage the European Commission's Research Enquiry Service, which answers questions from grant applicants, EU-funded researchers and the public.
•Support independent experts evaluating project proposals competing for EU research funds.
•Assist with the legal and financial validation of all European Union programme grants and procurement operations directly funded by the European Commission.

REA is based in Brussels with a multinational team of around 880 persons.

In order to fill 5 vacant posts in Department REA.A – ‘Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) & Support to Experts’, the European Research Executive Agency (REA) is currently looking for new collaborators as Project Officers (contract agents FGIII). 

REA Department A aims at supporting the Commission in achieving the objectives of the Research and Innovation Framework Programmes by managing the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and providing the expert management and evaluation support services.   

The MSCA focus on strengthening skills, training and career development of researchers at any stages of their career and in any research area. The programme is part of the Excellent Science pillar of the Horizon Europe and strongly contributes to excellent research, boosting jobs, growth and investment by equipping researchers with new knowledge and skills and to building a structuring effect on the institutions across the European Research Area, and worldwide.

The MSCA are jointly managed by four units:

  • Unit A1: MSCA Doctoral networks
  • Unit A2: MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships
  • Unit A3: MSCA Staff exchanges
  • Unit A4: MSCA and Citizens, COFUND and Support Activities

Moreover, the Department is in charge of managing the legacy of the predecessor programmes.

GENERAL CONTEXT

REA is a multicultural and dynamic body set up by the European Commission in 2007, originally for implementing parts of the Seventh EU Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration activities. In 2021, the Commission again extended the REA's mandate, until 2027, delegating to it additional actions of H2020 and Horizon Europe.

PROFILES AND DUTIES

The successful candidates will work in Function Group III as Project Officers.

The level of responsibilities is set in accordance with the Function Group.
