Mandated by the European Commission to support the EU Research and Innovation policy, the European Research Executive Agency (REA), funds high-quality research and innovation projects that generate knowledge for the benefit of society. The REA also manages promotion measures concerning agricultural products.
Accordingly, the REA's responsibilities are to:
•Manage research projects supported under Horizon Europe, the world's largest framework programme for research and innovation to date, running from 2021 to 2027.
•Manage research projects supported under Horizon 2020, the previous framework programme for research and innovation (2014-2020).
•Implement the European Union programmes Promotion of agricultural products and Research Fund for Coal and Steel, as well as ongoing projects funded under the EU's 2014-2020 budget.
•Assist funding and tender applicants, beneficiaries and independent experts.
•Manage the European Commission's Research Enquiry Service, which answers questions from grant applicants, EU-funded researchers and the public.
•Support independent experts evaluating project proposals competing for EU research funds.
•Assist with the legal and financial validation of all European Union programme grants and procurement operations directly funded by the European Commission.
REA is based in Brussels with a multinational team of around 880 persons.

Unit A.5 is taking a leading role in the definition of ECS, the expert management IT system replacing EMI. If you want to be in the driving seat for steering this change, this is the place to be. Working in close collaboration with other analysts in the team, with the expert management Business Process Manager (BPM) and the Business Process Owner (BPO), the successful candidate will be in charge of gathering user needs from within the unit and from REA’s clients based on the existing and future business processes for expert management, translating them into business requirements, and following up on their implementation by the IT teams of RTD.
In this pivotal position between the users, the business process, and the developers, the successful candidates and their team members will be the central point for organising the collection of input and feedback from both REA.A.5 and its clients. After analysis and clarification of the requests, the successful candidates will be in charge of proposing and contributing to the design of corporate solutions, as well as defining their priority with the BPM, and assisting IT teams in their implementation, while managing users’ expectations.
The successful candidates will work as Administrator - Business Analyst (AD5-AD12) and will:
- organise the gathering of business needs and feedback from REA’s clients on the expert IT systems;
- analyse and prioritise them and get agreement from the users;
- propose business solutions that are addressing those needs, taking into account IT development constraints and priorities;
coordinate and align with other users of the systems, and the BPM, in defining a corporate solution; - follow-up and guide the implementation, answering to clarification requests from the IT developers;
- work in a team with several business analysts.
